The flight back to Australia was long, dull and thankfully uneventful. The last couple of hours seemed to go on forever. Hardly slept at all.
Back in Australia we found our passion fruit vine flowered for the first time.
Thankfully they had quite a bit of rain, so everything has been growing – including the weeds.
We went to lunch at Trichtenhauser-Mühle just a short drive down the hill from Christa’s place. Very good food and wine – a nice way to say good-bye.
Just a few photos around Christa’s place. The autumn colours are beautiful. You might be able to make out a black bird near the grapes in one of the photos. It seems the birds really appreciate the grapes.
Saturday was pretty much of a washout and we only ventured out in the evening to Judith and Nick for 5pm. Had a lovely evening. Sorry no photos – forgot to bring the camera along.
We left Český Krumlov on a misty morning. We followed the route proposed by bing maps, which took us through beautiful countryside in the Czech Republic and Germany. We passed Lake Lipno where we could see lots of ads for canoeing – but also saw some sailing boats on the lake. Unfortunately there was quite a bit of fog over the lake so we could not see it in its glory. Soon after we were in beautiful sunshine. Once we reached the autobahn, the scenery became fairly monotonous and we concentrated on driving, covering the distance. By the time we reached the Swiss border, it started to cloud over. Rain started on the way to Zurich and it was raining quite heavily when unpacking the car in Zurich. In the short distance we travelled in Switzerland, the temperature dropped from 23 degrees to 11 degrees.
After our sleep, we heard this noise that I immediately identified as the sound of a hot air balloon. Although it sounded like a hot air balloon, I dismissed this as so unlikely. But when looking out the window, this hot air balloon was raising above the nearby hill. I was just in the process of copying the photos to my computer and could not take a photo. But a few minutes later, we heard the same sound again and this time I was ready for a shot.
We checked out a few restaurants, but in the end we decided to go back to the same restaurant we visited the previous night, the restaurant Barbakan.
Once again we enjoyed our meal and we certainly would recommend the restaurant to anybody. After our meal, it was getting close to nine o’clock now, we checked whether the castle was illuminated. Indeed it was and I managed to get a couple of shots.
We had a nice day in Český Krumlov, just walking around but also touring the castle. Unfortunately no photos from inside the castle – not allowed.
Lunch was in a vegetarian restaurant
on a terrace, right by the river. Have a look at the menu
. We shared Guacamole and Hummous and for main I had Chilli and Lesley had Sabdži. Really enjoyed the food and wine as well as the scenery. A digger trenching the river added to the lunch time experience.
An afternoon snooze was possible with the pension so close by, before heading back into the town for dinner. Life revolves around food….
